The reality of love may suck, but the movie does not.

Normally I do not like being tricked. However even after I realized that the movie The Reality of Love which Redbox had listed as a new release from 2012, was really just I Want to Marry Ryan Banks from 2004 with a new cover, I really didn't mind it so much. It was too enjoyable for me to care when it was made. I didn't realize it was older, although that kind of makes sense to me now, but while I was watching I just thought it was more of a low budget film, not a film that was 7 years old. The movie stars Jason Priestley someone I haven't even thought of since I used to think inappropriate thoughts about him when he was in Beverly Hills 90210. In this film he's an actor (Ryan Banks) that has gotten a bad rep for fooling around with the ladies. Hardly believable if you see him in this movie because he doesn't really look like anyone I'd want to hook up with. However, Bradley Cooper is also in the movie and he is always hunky. He acts as an agent for his egotistical friend. Eventually he has to help save his friends image and comes up with an idea for a Bachelor style show with an awful cheesy theme song for his friend titled "I Want to Marry Ryan Banks". I won't give away the movie. It is cheesy and predictable. You know what is going to happen as soon as the story starts unfolding. But that doesn't take away from the fact that this is a cute movie. I watched it with my kids and we got more than a few laughs out of it. The romance in the movie is the kind that makes you sit there and sigh, longing for that kind of fake love that you can only see in movies. It's absolutely worth the buck or two to rent it, and even worth keeping an extra night to watch again. I'd love to elaborate on why I love this movie, but I can't without spoiling it. I'll just say that just because everyone wants you to be with a certain person, doesn't mean you should deny yourself the true joy of being with someone who you truly love. That's what I learned from that. Stop doing what you feel you're supposed to do, and open yourself up to doing what is right and makes you happy. If you end up watching it I would love to hear what you think of it. So come back and leave me a comment.
